Evil Drinks Final Film
Evaluation
That was an experience! The whole process was strangely intensive. I knew I would be colouring, but just how much time and energy would be spent on colouring one scene was something I did not expect. I guess this is my first little taste of how intensive it can be in this industry. And this is only university!
Having watched the piece now with sound, I really like it. It's amusing and a nice short, snappy piece that should get a few laughs! I love the sound with it because it just brings it all together! It made it seem all the more dramatic. And the idea of the piece is just so quirky!
I learnt a lot on this piece. I learnt so much about photoshop, and the little tricks and shortcuts to speed up colouring. I also learnt about colour in general. Just adding shadows on the character gave me headaches at times because of how I had to cut down on shadows in certain places or cheat and add shadows in places they maybe shouldn't have been (that's artistic license!).
I also learnt a lot more of After Effects. That was both fun and frustrating. It felt like it was both easy and hard to grasp. Sometimes you will think something is so easy, a simple composite and cut, but then it would be much more complicated than you thought. Like photoshop, I learnt the tricks and shortcuts and got speedy at editing and compositing. Having Niel there to edit and composite with me was so helpful. She would change things and I could do them easier. Or there would be something wrong and we could figure things out together. Good communication was key and it was so helpful here!
