Concept Art
The Idea - The Imp is the little voice at the back of your head telling you to do things, really weird things, that you would never normally do. It's that voice that tells you to jump off of a tall building ledge or to push someone or run someone over. It's those negative and scary thoughts you get that make you wonder if you're a psycho. The Imp is the physical representation of this and I got the idea from the 'Imp of the Perverse' by Edgar Allen Poe. Also the french saying "L'apell du vide" = The call of the void, which is the idea of wanting to jump down when standing on a high place.
LO1: I would like to be a concept artist, but considering we all have to pitch, I am ready to take up the Director role although I am not so keen on the role at the moment. I know I will need to pitch this idea to the class and tutor for approval so I face the challenge of convincing them it is a worthwhile idea.
LO3: Here is one of the first concept arts I did for the main character and The Imp.

LO3: (Above) This is the height difference between the two. Even the demeanour of he two is different.
(Below) I tried to do facial expressions. Most of them are quite sad looking because the character is rather grumpy.

I then went into photoshop and drew more of the characters in preparation for the pitch.
LO4: Here are the shots I did for the animatic I showed for my pitch.
(Below) The boy is busy working but the girl next to him keeps tapping her pen and he is suddenly told by The Imp to stab her and he does. But the the scene quickly changes to reveal it was just his imagination.
Next he is looking at his phone and it is out of batter. The Imp tells him to throw it away, so he does. Then it switches back to reality to reveal him just staring blankly at the phone.
Here the character is drinking but someone backs into him and spills his drink. He gets annoyed and The Imp urges him to punch the other guy, which he does. Then the scene switches once more to reality to reveal him looking at his shirt annoyed and NOT punching the other guy.
LO4: (Below) Here is my final presentation that I presented to the class. You can also download the animatic below the presentation.

In the end this did not go through to be made as an FMP. I was fine with the decision as I had no clue where to take this idea. I liked the concept, but was lost on the production of it. I may try and do something for this in the future, but for now I shall leave it for another day. Perhaps as a side project or a project to complete after university.
