Maya Exercises
Our task was to use Maya to create a 3D teapot. We started by doing a simple half teapot.
Above: Here I had to build the teapot half out of a simple cube polygon and use extruding to bring out certain parts of it to make the teapot handle and spout.
Below: As you can see I further added the teapot handle through extruding and deleting certain faces.

Above: I smoothed the teapot and duplicated the half to make a whole. This made the teapot shape that I could further manipulate and make rounder.
Below: This shows the teapot controls and how I smoothed and adjusted the handle and spout more to give it the teapot look. The control panel on the side shows the different settings I used on this teapot.

Above: Here are further teapot proxy settings.
Below: I made the actual teapot lid easily by extruding the top part after adding extra lines to it for extrusion.

Below: I decided to make another teapot, but this time I made a longer looking one, almost jug-like. I gave it a more prominent lid and a smaller handle in comparison to it's long body.
I found the whole making a teapot on Maya strangely difficult, but as I kept going it got more fun and easier. The smooth proxy option made life much easier and made my teapot look much better than a rigid half pot. I learnt a lot of new tools, but most of all the session helped me refresh my memory of Maya since last year.
In the end I think I could have made a prettier teapot, but at least it looks like a teapot!
